My early experience with Aion 2 was more interesting than I initially expected. At first, I assumed the game would follow a familiar formula centered on Korean MMORPG conventions, PvP, and character progression. Because I had some experience with the original Aion, however, I wanted to give the new game a fair opportunity rather than judge it from its first presentation. The limited play test offered around 12 hours of scheduled gameplay over two days, and after accounting for interruptions, I spent approximately 10 to 11 hours exploring it. That was enough to examine several systems, including combat, targeting, classes, and the role that Aion 2 Items may eventually play in progression.
Nine Classes And Classic Roles
Aion 2 is launching with nine classes and follows the classic MMORPG holy trinity. Players can expect the familiar division between tanks, DPS characters, and healers. This structure is hardly revolutionary, but it provides a recognizable framework for party play. Players who have experience with traditional MMORPGs should understand the basic responsibilities of each role quickly. The class system also gives the game a solid foundation for group content because each role can contribute in a clearly defined way. The real question is how much depth the individual classes will offer once players spend more time developing them.
Choosing The Right Targeting Mode
The combat system became much more noticeable once I started comparing the two available targeting approaches. The first is a conventional tab-targeting mode known as Aion One mode. The second is the Aion 2 mode, which relies more heavily on using the mouse to point toward enemies. These systems create noticeably different experiences. Tab targeting is familiar to anyone who has played older MMORPGs, but I found it somewhat awkward during the test. Target selection occasionally felt less predictable than I wanted, especially when movement and mouse input were happening at the same time.
Why The Aion 2 Mode Felt Different
The Aion 2 mode felt more natural to me because it seemed better aligned with the game's overall controls. Rather than repeatedly relying on tab selection, the player can use the mouse to direct attention toward enemies. This made encounters feel more immediate and gave the combat a somewhat more action-oriented character. The game's click-to-move system can still create moments of frustration, particularly if a player accidentally clicks the wrong location or target. However, the alternative targeting system seemed to reduce some of the awkwardness I experienced while using the traditional mode.
Mobile Origins Still Show
One reason the controls feel different may be connected to the game's development history. Aion 2 was originally announced as a mobile MMORPG in 2018, and some elements of that original design direction appear to remain visible. The interface and control choices do not always feel identical to those of a traditional PC-first MMORPG. At the same time, players are not restricted to keyboard and mouse input. The game also includes dedicated controller support, which I briefly tested. While I did not spend enough time with the controller to form a detailed opinion, having another input option gives players additional flexibility.
An Early Look At The Full Experience
The test was ultimately too short to answer every question about the game's long-term systems. Server issues also reduced the amount of uninterrupted time available, so the experience should be viewed as an early impression rather than a complete review. Still, the test showed that Aion 2 combines conventional class roles with a targeting system that gives players meaningful control choices. As the game develops, players will likely pay close attention to its economy and progression structure. Those planning their early progression may eventually consider whether to cheap Aion 2 Kinah through available sources, but the most important first step is understanding the combat system and finding a class and control style that feel comfortable.
